Housing Officer

Location: Home based, with travel across the Midlands and to our office in Coalville, Leicestershire
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Mon-Fri)
Salary: £30,294 to £33,660 per annum

We’re looking for a housing officer to join our team and help us continue to make a difference to our customers and communities.

About the role

You’ll be delivering a broad range of housing services to our residents and shared owners living in rural areas across the Peak District and Warwick.

You’ll use your operational knowledge and problem-solving approach to provide a truly customer-focussed housing management service.

This isn’t a desk job. You’ll be out meeting and supporting customers; managing tenancies including sign-ups, tenancy changes, tenancy breaches and income management; and providing a focussed response to anti-social behaviour issues.

At Midlands Rural Housing we have an early intervention and prevention ethos, where everyone provides a speedy intervention on issues, and works to help customers sustain and manage their tenancies.

It's a busy and very varied role, working as part of a great team where no two days are the same!


About you

We’re looking for someone who:

  • has a good track record in delivering customer-centred services
  • has detailed operational knowledge and understanding of housing law, housing and leasehold management, income management and anti-social behaviour practice management
  • has experience and evidence of good partnership working
  • has a good standard of numeracy
  • can prepare and interpret information and data accurately and judge, assess and act accordingly
  • can deal with stressful situations with tact and diplomacy
  • can develop and maintain effective relationships with partners, such as adult social care services, health and wellbeing agencies, local authorities and parish councillors.

You’ll also need:

  • to be able to efficiently travel across a large geographical area
  • and be educated to GCSE level 4 – 9 standard or equivalent in English and Maths
